California Youth Energy Services promotes green jobs in California by hiring young people in various urban neighborhoods to assist the underprivileged with energy efficiency practices. These practices range from energy audits to switching to better light bulbs.

While providing such services in their respective communities, these youth workers are also preparing themselves to take on careers in California's new green economy. This program is run by Rising Sun Energy Center of Berkeley. Rising Sun has estimated the program has saved over $2 million in utility costs while also reducing the carbon footprint of the communities they serve.
