We are very pleased that the State Senate and State Assembly have decided to reject most of the Governor’s cuts to health and human services. We applaud their commitment to the health safety net and their wiliness to suggest revenue alternatives to deep cuts in services. We are very hopeful that the Governor will support this budget.
We are equally aware that although the HHS programs were spared in this budget proposal, the Governor's 2010-11 budget still contains proposals that would equal 1/2 billion dollars in cuts and the loss of healthcare access for millions of Californians. We ask that the legislature continues its commitment to the health safety net and also rejects these cuts as well.
