California needs change and it needs it now! This is what gubernatorial hopeful Meg Whitman has promised to bring if she gets elected. Her 48-page policy paper on ‘Building a New California’ is a revelation about her vision and intent to clean up the mess in our state. Most political and socio-economic observers will agree that there is a desperate need for bold action. Here are some of the reasons why you should vote for Meg Whitman.

·         Experience with job creation. She is no stranger when it comes to creating jobs. When she was eBay’s top honcho, she expanded the company into new markets and not just domestically, but globally as well. She created new jobs not just at eBay but built an entire cottage industry under eBay that provided new opportunities for hundreds of thousands.

·         A proactive plan to stimulate hiring. Among the many steps she has proposed to breathe life into the comatose state economy, she favors scrapping all fees required by new businesses in their initial registration process.

·         Cutting $15 billion of wasteful government spending. She has proposed to make the legislature part-time. This could very well be on of the best moves by a politician yet.

·         New tax incentives for home purchases. In order to stimulate the depressed California real estate market she has stated she wants to deliver a $10,000 tax credit to those who purchase a new or existing home.

·         Tax credits for going green. Companies that create green tech job opportunities for people will be incentivized through tax credits. This does not only take care of her environmental agenda but also taps into the job creation as well.

·         Expand California green initiatives. Further tax benefits will come to companies and individuals who implement the latest in water and energy conservation technology in their homes and businesses.

·         An eye on education. Out of the entire state education budget supposed to go into the classrooms, only a 60% makes it. She wants to implement a plan to divert all of it directly into the classroom.

·         Acknowledging deserving teachers. With a view to boost interest among would be teachers, Meg Whitman proposes to reward top deserving teachers with bonuses while also giving top performing schools additional benefits as well.

·         Bipartisan approach to governing. Her top campaign advisor is a registered Democrat himself – Henry Gomez, also a former Democratic National Committee member.

·         Tough on crime. She wants to keep criminals off the streets by opposing early release programs. She is also an ardent support of the ‘three strikes’ laws as well as the California death penalty

·         Welcomes prison reform. She has promised to  cut down expenditure on the maintenance of prisoners through innovative ideas such as sending inmates to other states that have unused prison capacity.

·         Aggressively address California’s border problems. Whitman has committed to appealing to California business to stop or at least curb illegal employment. She also wants to install an e-verification process at the border and strengthen border security.

This state needs leadership! Both at the economic and social levels. And she is not going to provide this. I think Whitman is coming into the election thinking she can run the state like she ran eBay.

I can't believe someone would support her! A lot of her positions reflect a disturbing right wing ideology. Not only that but she is clearly trying to buy this election!

Nice!
