Bob Huff was elected to the 60th District on November 2, 2004 with 66.4% of the vote. A resident of Diamond Bar, Huff has served on the City Council since 1995 and served as Mayor in 1997 and 2001. Prior to becoming a member of the Council, Mr. Huff served on the Diamond Bar Planning Commission and the Diamond Bar General Plan Advisory Committee.
Born in Calexico, California, Mr. Huff grew up on his family’s farm in the Imperial Valley. After graduating from high school, he went to Santa Barbara and enrolled at Westmont College, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology, graduating with honors.
Most of Mr. Huff’s professional and business experience has been in the agricultural industry. Working through the ranks to become the youngest Vice President in a grain handling corporation, Mr. Huff became manager-owner of the Ray S. French Company, an independent commodity wholesaler, shortly after he moved his family to Diamond Bar in 1983.
With a focus on transportation issues, Mr. Huff was Diamond Bar’s delegate to the Four Corners Transportation Policy Group and was Vice President of the San Gabriel Valley Council of Governments. He was President of the Foothill Transit Executive Board, and founding Chairman and Executive Board Member of the Alameda Corridor East (ACE) Construction Authority.
While on the City Council, Mr. Huff worked on the council’s finance subcommittee, and as a liaison to the Walnut Valley Unified School District. Mr. Huff is a founding member of the Tres Hermanos Conservation Authority, and is active in a local chapter of the California Lincoln Club. He is also a member of a number of other community groups including the Diamond Bar Chamber of Commerce, Walnut Valley Rotary Club and the Diamond Bar Improvement Association.
Mr. Huff and his wife, Mei Mei, have three sons and a daughter.
The 60th Assembly District includes portions of Los Angeles, Orange and San Bernardino counties and the cities of Chino Hills, Diamond Bar, La Habra Heights, La Mirada, Villa Park, and Walnut in their entirety. The 60th District also includes portions of Anaheim, Industry, La Habra, Orange, Rowland Heights, San Dimas, Whittier and Yorba Linda.
