Karen Bass founded the Community Coalition in 1990 to improve the quality of life in South Los Angeles. She has served as Executive Director of the coalition for 13 years.
Ms. Bass holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from Cal State Dominguez Hills and a post-graduate degree as a physician's assistant from the University of Southern California. She has been a clinical instructor at the USC School of Medicine since 1986 and joined the UCLA School of Public Policy as a Senior Policy Fellow in 1998.
Ms. Bass currently resides in the Baldwin Vista community of Los Angeles. She has one child, who currently attends Loyola-Marymount University.
