California State Senator Lou Correa was first elected to the Senate in November 2006, representing Senate District 34. The district includes the cities of Anaheim, Buena Park, Fullerton, Garden Grove, Santa Ana, Stanton and Westminster.
Senator Lou Correa was elected to his first term on the Orange County Board of Supervisors in 2004 to represent the 1st District, the Heart of Orange County. The 1st District includes the cities of Garden Grove, Santa Ana, Westminster, Midway City and other unincorporated county land.
Prior to his election to the Board of Supervisors, Lou Correa served as a state Assemblymember from 1998 to 2004. While in the Assembly, Lou chaired the Committee on Business and Professions, the Public Employees, Retirement and Social Security Committee, the Select Committee on Mobilehomes and the Select Committee on MCAS El Toro Reuse. He also served on several committees including Appropriations; Banking and Finance; Insurance; Education; Consumer Protection, Governmental Efficiency & Economic Development; Local Government; Transportation; Veteran’s Affairs; and Budget.

Lou is a product of the Anaheim public school system, where he attended Ben Franklin Elementary, Fremont Junior High and Anaheim High School. Lou holds degrees in Economics from California State University, Fullerton, and a Jurist Doctorate Degree (JD) and Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
Long active in community affairs, Lou taught in the Rancho Santiago Community College District and continues to work to ensure the affordability of higher education for all Californians. Lou served on the Board of the Orange County Community Development Council, the county’s anti-poverty council, the California Small Business Board, and the Orange County Boy Scouts. Prior to serving in the California State Legislature, Lou was an investment banker, and a real estate broker. Lou is licensed with the California Real Estate Board and the California State Bar. Supervisor Correa lives in Santa Ana with his wife, Dr. Esther Correa, and their four children, Alex, Andres, Adan and Emilia.
